One way to get informed is to look up something. In this case, what if you’re at work and you want to know more about where you work … ok Googling your workplace is probably the first thought in mind, BUT what if I told you that before the internet, and even nowadays, there was a thing called a “company newsletter.” Well, I had the opportunity to provide just that. At Engineering & Computer Simulations, I had the opportunity to create and work on the company newsletter. It started off as a digital pdf that would be sent out via a plain text email as an attachment with no intentions to be printed.
The company newsletter eventually became something that was well received and what I thought had blown the third party PR contract company, out of the water. Some said that it was easy to read and felt like it was just like looking at a magazine. Eventually more articles and images were assembled to form a fuller newsletter and I designed a dedicated newsletter email for internal distribution that pointed at the same articles that were also translated into the company’s intranet newsfeed.
Needless to say I championed something and set into motion a few creations that were informative and easy reads for all of our military and non-military personnel stationed locally and around the world. Definitely an accomplishing feel to be able to help visualize communications.
