Finding the right image

As a content creator, you’re often looking for the right type of media. Just the other week we found a source where we can find the right sound, this time we’re taking a look where we can find the right image without paying for it … legally.

It’s easy enough to just do a web grab of an image right off of Google but that can often lead to color profiles mixing, resolution problems, and copyright problems. Then there are many reputable sites where stock media – images, vector graphics and more can be found, however, once you find the right image(s) you’ll find yourself up to your neck in costs for individual purchases or subscriptions just to have the rights to those images expire after a certain amount of time. But what if I told you that during my time I came across quite a few sites that can help a freelancer out with some decent quality images. The site that has a curation of sites that can be just the right amount of assistance.

TheStocks.im
This site has saved me quite a bit of time as I was an up and coming artist, sometimes I find myself going to this site nowadays just to see what kind of other sites that are out there now. Sometimes I’ll hit the page and find that the page jumps to a new window or tab, but no worries. Other times the page doesn’t load into their mini browser on the site so I would need to open it up in a new source anyways. The page often updates its sources to give other pages a shot but ultimately has an assortment that provides free to download stock media. I do caution when using them that you’ll never know when one of those pieces of media may turn to pay for use. In those cases, I would just make sure you keep documentation as to its rights usage, attribution information, and date accessed/used. When in doubt, reach out to the content creator of the content you’re using for rights usage. Otherwise … get creating!
